A member of top girl group the Sugababes, Amelle Berrabah, was arrested yesterday after a dancefloor brawl in a Surrey nightclub.
The singer, 23, allegedly clashed with an 18-year-old girl, ripping out her hair in a vicious fight in Bar Med, in Guildford.

According to the Mirror, a source close to the singer claimed: "A large group of girls came up to them on the dancefloor and words were exchanged before a fight kicked off. Amelle defended her sister and gave as good as she got."
"By the end of the scuffle Amelle had a handful of hair extensions. Then the police showed up and took her away."

The source added: "Amelle and Laila were just having fun and dancing until things turned nasty.

Amelle spent a night in the cells at Guildford, Surrey, and was released on bail before joining her band on a flight to Los Angeles.

Police were called to Bar Med in Guildford, Surrey, at 1am and arrested Amelle. She was taken to the town's police station where she spent several hours in a cell.

The 23-year-old persuaded officers to let her give a statement at 7am yesterday so she could join bandmates Keisha Buchanan and Heidi Range to catch a flight to the US. A Sugababes spokeswoman confirmed her arrest. She said: "There was an incident on Saturday night and Amelle is helping police with their inquiries. I can't say more than that because she is on a flight to LA."

Amelle, the newest member of the group, joined the Sugababes - whose hit Red Dress made it to No 5 last year - in December 2005 replacing original member Mutya Buena.

She has been dogged by controversy since she joined the top band whose hits include Hole in The Head and Freak Like Me.

Her ex boyfriend Freddie Fuller, who was in the bar when she was arrested, is to report to police today with John Carny, 22, Mark Marney, 28, and Lee Windybrook, 20, for allegedly raping her younger sister.

Her older sister was held for alleged theft at the hospital where she works.

Police said: "A 23-year-old female was arrested in Guildford town centre following an incident in a bar. She has been released on police bail pending further inquiries."

Last week, it was announced the band are launching a Barbie collection which will be available in UK toy stores in May.

Toy manufacturer Mattel expects the euro 9.99 Sugababes' dolls to outsell Barbies designed by Girls Aloud, which went on sale in November 2005
